I wanted to share with you some of the projects that came out of the Seashore Stampers Christmas get-together this past Saturday. The Seashore Stampers is a group of local Stampin' Up! demonstrators. I put this group together so we could share and support one another. And, well, I simply like these ladies and enjoy their company, creativity and laughter. We meet once a month for some business chit chat, support, lunch and some crafting.
To make our potluck lunch a little more festive, we each agreed to make a little something for the table place settings. I made this cutlery holder:

The cutlery holder was so much fun to make - and relatively easy and fast depending on how much embellishing you want to do. I found a video for this and will link to it here.
After lunch, we got busy with four make & take projects: a little pink pig with butterfly wings made using the Curvy Keepsake framelits, a card made using stencils, ink pads and sponges, an adorable cork reindeer made using the Cookie Cutter bundle, and a gift bow using 1/2 a sheet of designer series paper. The gift bow was my contribution.
I demonstrated the making of this bow. So easy to make.

If you are coming from another Seashore Stamper's blog, welcome. This month's theme are the colours red and white. Since Canada Day is just around the corner, I decided to make a card using the Ruffled embossing folder that I had purchased earlier this year yet had never used. Recently I saw a card that had created a layer of ruffles and it reminded me of a flag waving in the wind. So, for my card, I used Real Red for the card base. I then cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4 inches and did a red watercolour wash to create the flag colours. Shimmery White cardstock is fantastic for use with watercolouring techniques. After it dried, I ran it through the Big Shot in the Ruffled folder. I used the Colorful Seasons stamp which returned to the catalogue for another year. I love this set as it has images useful for all seasons and has coordinating framelits, such as the fabulous maple leaf and the Adirondack chair. Do your acrylic plates look like this? How would you like to get them looking like this? Our Big Shot acrylic plates become warped over time, making it difficult to position framelits/thinlits/edgelits dies over stamped images. Well, I have a method to straighten them that actually works. I have tried other methods only to find dissatisfactory results. What you will need: Aluminium foil Baking sheet Very heavy pot * Remove the top rack from your oven and pre-heat to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Wrap each acrylic plate individually in aluminum foil. Stack the wrapped plates on a large baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and stack the heavy pot on top of the plates. As you can see from the image, I easily stacked four plates. ‘Bake’ for 45-60 minutes. Remove everything from the oven and place on a protective surface. Reassemble the stack. It's important to keep everything the way it was in the oven duing the cooling period. Once cool unwrap the acrylic plates...

Well, I have - and that's because June and July seem to be the most popular months for weddings here in Victoria. Actually, they are not.
