Memories of OnStage Orlando

Image
I'm back from a fabulous week in Orlando Florida and want to share my experiences with you. The highlight of my trip of course was Stampin' Up!'s 30th anniversary celebration at OnStage. A group of fellow demonstrators from Vancouver Island were there and we had a blast. I then stayed another couple of days to visit Universal Studios and do a little shopping. Before leaving, I received in the mail my Centre Stage invitation. Demonstrators who have achieved the level of Silver Elite and above were invited to a special event called Centre Stage the evening before the 3-day conference began. I was so happy to have received this special invitation and I have my loyal customers to thank for that. After picking up my registration package on the morning of Nov 7, we were bused to the Epcot Centre for an afternoon of fun and evening of desserts. Before I get to that, I'd like to share photos of the contents of the registration package. The canvas bag contained my name tag and r...

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Case the Catty

Image
Hello everyone, Well this month, we decided to case the catalogue. That means you find a card or project picture in the catalogue for which you have all the materials - for example, the exact colours of cardstock, the exact designer series paper, the exact ribbon, embellishments, etc. and you make it. Now some of us don't always have the exact products so we did allow a little discretion but we must all use current Stampin' Up! products. I cased the cute card on page 38 of the Holiday catalogue using the Spirited Snowmen stamp set. Unfortunately I ran out of Granny Apple Green cardstock so rather than stamp the Buffalo Check stamp on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch panel, I stamped it directly onto the card front. I used a piece of Poppy Parade and Whisper White cardstock that measure 3-1/2 x 5 inches. The colouring was done using the Stampin' Blends which I absolutely love and I added some Wink of Stella. You cannot have a snowman without glitter. I didn't have the Galvanized Clips f...

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Halloween Card

Image
Hello my fellow stampers and lovers of all things paper crafted. This month, we are making projects using products from the Holiday Catalogue. I chose one of the four Halloween stamp sets featured on pages 48-51, the one called Cauldron Bubble. I purchased the bundle so I got the framelits as well and I just fell in love with the designer series paper. Stampin' Up! chose two of their newest colours, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green to include in the colour scheme and wow, these pack a punch together with the always popular Pumpkin Pie, a favourite for the fall. These are the pieces you need to create this card: Thick Whisper White, 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2 inches. Granny Apple Green, 5-1/4 x 4 inches Piece of DSP, 5 x 3-3/4 inches A strip of Gorgeous Grape, 3/4 x 5-1/4 inches. Run this through with an embossing folder; I used the Quilt Top embossing folder. Using Memento Black ink, stamp the ghost and the cat and colour. I used the Stampin' Blends markers as I love how ...

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Holiday Catalogue Cards

Image
Hello everyone. I cannot believe how quickly a month has passed since our last blog hop. Well, here it is, the end of August. It's sad because it means the end of summer. It's happy because the release of the 2018 Holiday Catalogue is just around the corner. As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I have the privilege to  pre-order from new catalogues before they are released to customers. That gives me the chance to play with new products and create samples for my catalogue launch. This event gives my customers an opportunity to pick up their own copy of the catalogue, take a look at some of the new products and see samples. So save the date: Holiday Catalogue Launch Friday, August 31, 5 - 8 pm Saturday, September 1, 10 - noon and 1 - 3 pm I purchased quite a few items and have been playing. So many beautiful stamp sets with matching framelits, punches, and embossing folders. And of course, absolutely gorgeous designer series papers. I did my first unboxing video which, if you did...

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop-Wedding Cards

Image
Have you heard church bells on Saturdays during the last couple of months? How about seeing those beautiful long limosines? Well, I have - and that's because June and July seem to be the most popular months for weddings here in Victoria. Actually, they are not. Did you know that December is the most popular month for engagements with August being the most popular month for weddings. And if you are interested in other wedding related FAQs, take a look at this interesting site. Several members of our Seashore Stampers group participated in our monthly card swap and created some beautiful wedding cards for our meeting on July 21. Some of those ladies will be participating in this month blog hop so you will be able to see their creations here as well as mine. So, let me explain why there are two cards. My first idea was to create interlocking hearts using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. Well, for whatever reason, after cutting about six of the hearts, I started to struggle getting the p...

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Red & White Theme

Image
If you are coming from another Seashore Stamper's blog, welcome. This month's theme are the colours red and white. Since Canada Day is just around the corner, I decided to make a card using the Ruffled embossing folder that I had purchased earlier this year yet had never used. Recently I saw a card that had created a layer of ruffles and it reminded me of a flag waving in the wind. So, for my card, I used Real Red for the card base. I then cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4 inches and did a red watercolour wash to create the flag colours. Shimmery White cardstock is fantastic for use with watercolouring techniques. After it dried, I ran it through the Big Shot in the Ruffled folder. I used the Colorful Seasons stamp which returned to the catalogue for another year. I love this set as it has images useful for all seasons and has coordinating framelits, such as the fabulous maple leaf and the Adirondack chair. To add a bit of sparkle, I used the Wink of Stella p...

Are Your Acrylic Plates Warped??

Image
Do your acrylic plates look like this?  How would you like to get them looking like this? Our Big Shot acrylic plates become warped over time, making it difficult to position framelits/thinlits/edgelits dies over stamped images. Well, I have a method to straighten them that actually works. I have tried other methods only to find dissatisfactory results. What you will need: Aluminium foil Baking sheet   Very heavy pot * Remove the top rack from your oven and pre-heat to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Wrap each acrylic plate individually in aluminum foil. Stack the wrapped plates on a large baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and stack the heavy pot on top of the plates. As you can see from the image, I easily stacked four plates. ‘Bake’ for 45-60 minutes. Remove everything from the oven and place on a protective surface. Reassemble the stack. It's important to keep everything the way it was in the oven duing the cooling period. Once cool unwrap the acrylic plates...
