Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Stocking Stuffers

Image
Welcome to the second Seashore Stampers Blog Hop. We are still encountering some newbie technical difficulties with linking to each others blogs. We appreciate your patience as we keep learning more. The theme for this month is gift packaging for stocking stuffers. I have a daughter and picking up things for her stocking is always easy. Anything nail related, anything soapy related, anything lip balmy related so with this in mind I found a cute cracker style package that would work well for a new nail polish or lip gloss. Although I made Christmas cracker style boxes last year using the envelope punch board, I found this idea from Ann's Happy Stampers . Only one end of the box has the cracker closure and I loved the use of vellum. You basically start with a piece of vellum that measures 6 x 6 inches. Place it on your score board and score at: 1-3/8, 2-3/4, 4-1/8 and 5-1/2 inches. Rotate the vellum 90 degrees and score at: 1, 1-1/2, 2 and 4-5/8 inches. Fold and burnish all score lin...

The Double Pleated Fold

Image
Over the last few weeks I've noticed many videos by Stampin' Up! demonstrators that incorporate the fold commonly called 'drapery or curtain fold'. I'm thinking it's because there is a Designer Series Paper (DSP) sale on right now at Stampin' Up!. Everyone must be thinking the same thing -- let's use up some of our older papers in order to buy more. But these videos are showing a slightly different version and are referring to it as the 'double pleated fold' and I'll explain how to make it. If you'd like to order and live in the Victoria area, let me know and I'll add to my end of the month group order. If you live elsewhere in Canada, you can certainly order from me, and I'd love it if you did. Simply use this month's Hostess Code: xxxx when placing your order. Now on to the fold technique. Here is a sampling of the cards I've been making. The first two were designs for my last Stamp Cafe class. And the last one I made ...

Celebrating World Cardmaking Day

Image
Today, October 1, is World Cardmaking Day . I initially thought this was an initiative started by Stampin' Up!, but it's not. However, the company, as well as many demonstrators and customers love to celebrate it by making a card on this day. A Google search of 'world cardmaking day' brought me to this interesting site . It delves into the history of this day and how you can celebrate. My plan is to make more customer thank you cards. I love to have a small supply of these on hand so I can include one in each customer order. These are usually 3x3 inches in size because, well, they are just so cute. I started making these cards when Stampin' Up! sold small envelopes for 3 x 3 cards. Unfortunately they no longer sell these but that doesn't deter me; I simply pull out my envelope punch board and from one sheet of 8.5 x 11, I can make three 3x3 cards. Here are a few photos of what I've made in the past. I'm including a link to a video by Stampin' Up! on ...
