Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - Favourite Holiday Catalogue Stamp Set

Image
Although I have a number of stamp sets from the Holiday catalogue, I am often drawn to make a card with the Wrapped in Warmth stamp set featured on pages 12-13. Item # 142054 And to coordinate with this set, I purchased the fabulous new Cable Knit Embossing Folder, the Warmth & Cheer 6x6 paper stack, and the Kraft Rope Trim . Item # 143537 Item # 141991 Item # 141996 The greetings conjure up memories of my childhood in Montreal - frosty, snowy, icy, chilly - always having to dress warmly.  Both my mom and nanny were fabulous knitters and every winter my siblings and I would get a new sweater (because of course, we'd outgrown the one from the previous year). Here are some of the cards I have made: I also made a couple of boxes: Made with Baker's Box thinklits, item # 138279 Made with Gift Box Punch Board, item # 135863 This week I happened upon a video by Tami White in which she shows how to make a cable knit sweater card. I just had to make one and here it is: If you...

Lesson Learned

Technology - sometimes it works, other times not so great! I've noticed two glitches. The first -- no video link in the email you received. Ugh!!! However, if you click on the title of the post in the email it takes you directly to my blog and thankfully the video is there. The second -- I noticed the most recent post of today (September 16) is out of order on the blog roll. It appears below a post of September 5. How did that happen? Well here's the lesson learned. When a post is left in draft mode, Blogger does not update the post to the date it is published. That does not make any sense to me so now I need to be careful with drafts. So, if you return to my previous email and click on the blog title, you can see the video or just click this direct link . I'm so sorry for all the confusion.

Keep it Simple

I'm sure you have heard an expression similar to this one before - 'KISS' is the more common acronym - but no need to add the last word here. After making quite a detailed card using the Santa's Sleigh stamp set and coordinating framelits from the new Holiday Catalogue, I decided to go for something simple, a card you could easily create numerous times. Here are the measurements for the card base and layers and the stamping details: Card Base: Thick Whisper White cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" 1st Layer: Cucumber Crush cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8" 2nd Layer: Whisper White cut at 4 x 5-1/4" I embossed the top layer of Whisper White with the Softly Falling embossing folder. For the stamping: on a scrap piece of Whisper White I stamped: one tree in Cucumber Crush ink the wreath in Cucumber Crush ink the bow in Real Red ink the reindeer in VersaMark ink and embossed with gold powder on a scrap piece of Cucumber Crush I stamped: one tree in Cucumber Cr...
